Price Tag Revealed for New Moscow Stadium
Spartak Moscow’s billionaire owner says the new venue will cost $430 million.
“Absolutely everything will cost 14 billion rubles,” said Leonid Fedun, the club’s owner.
venue is scheduled to host matches as part of the 2018 World Cup. Club
rivals CSKA Moscow and Dynamo Moscow have built new facilities as well in recent years, though Spartak has struggled to find a permanent home.
The new stadium will be known as Otkrytie Arena
and is under construction in the city’s northern district of Tushino.
The name comes as part of a rights deal through which the team is already receiving money, according to Fedun.
The stadium is expected to open in July.
Orlando Officials Brainstorming Design
Orlando’s mayor and the chief executives of its new MLS franchise were in Kansas City to start getting an idea of what their new stadium will look like.
Buddy Dyer, the mayor of Orlando, and Orlando City Soccer Club president Phil Rawlins were among a group that attended a brainstorming session with architects from Populous, the firm hired to handle design work on the new venue.
“I’m a big believer in doing this – getting all the parties involved in the same room to talk about concepts and which way to go,” said Dyer, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The group will discuss concepts for the new $84 million stadium the city has planned. It is known that the building will have 18,000 seats, a covered seating area, and a field that is open to the sky.
Town Hall Meeting Over NYC Stadium
A town hall meeting will be held next Wednesday to discuss the building of an MLS stadium to house New York’s second franchise.
The club is expected to begin play in 2015, playing its first few seasons at Yankee Stadium, a Major League Baseball facility, before moving to its permanent home.
However, some have raised questions about funding the new facility, something the meeting will seek to address.
The club is a partnership between the New York Yankees and Manchester City.
