(WFI) Rio de Janeiro is gearing up for the World Cup and Brazilian flags adorn the city. FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke was in Rio this week as part of his two-week tour of 12 World Cup host cities.

The Australian national team, the Socceroos, attended a celebration in Sydney before heading to Brazil.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter attended the 67th Cannes Film Festival. Actor Tim Roth is portraying Blatter in an upcoming film titled “United Passions,” which was previewed at the festival. 

Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo trains ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
