(WFI) Germany celebrate becoming the 2014 World Cup champions after a 1-0 victory over Argentina.

The final took place on Sunday at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium. 

Germany midfielder Mario Goetze scored the team’s winning goal, a sublime volleyed strike deep into extra time. He had come on as a substitute for Miroslav Klose on 87 minutes.

Argentina and Germany last met during the 1990 World Cup final when the Germans triumphed 1-0 with a late penalty from Andreas Brehme.
