(WFI) Manchester United aims to expand its growth in Asia through a new partnership with Gulf Oil International.

The company today became the club’s first global lubricant and fuel retail partner in a three-year deal – billed as the first of its kind for a Premier League club.

Under the agreement, the fuel retailer’s orange disc will feature on the club’s digital perimeter boards during Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup matches at Old Trafford.

The Gulf lubricants firm has a presence in more than 110 countries worldwide.

United’s group managing director Richard Arnold said the club looked forward to expanding Gulf Oil International’s experience in sport into football. GOI already supports the Gulf Racing Porsche 991 RSR GTE in the World Endurance Championship. In motorbike sport, GOI partners BMW’s manufacturer-backed squad Team Milwaukee BMW and also supports nine times Top Fuel Motorcycle Champion Ian King.

“Through this partnership we will further our commitment to reach our fans around the world, especially in Asia,” Arnold said.

Gulf Oil International, a Hinduja Group company, said the agreement will enable it to engage with United’s global fans, including its 325 million followers in Asia, which the firm says is a major area of focus.
