(WFI) Rio 2016 Olympic football tournaments kick off in Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro, with the finals at the Maracana.
FIFA has released the scheduled times for the men’s and women’s competitions. Women’s matches will begin on Aug.3, with the men’s tournament kicking off on Aug. 4.
Although qualification for the tournaments is incomplete, Brazil has been slotted in the A1 and E1 positions for the men’s and women’s tournaments respectively.
The Brazilian women’s team will play two matches in Rio de Janeiro before finishing their group campaign in Manaus. The men’s team will play two matches in Brasilia before headed to Salvador for their final group match. The first match of each day will kick off at 13:00 local time.
Six cities, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Manaus, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo will host the tournament.
A total of seven stadiums will be used; six of them featured in the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
The knockout round will start on Aug. 12 for the women and Aug. 13 for the men. The women’s gold medal match will be on Aug. 19, with the men’s final the following day
Both gold medal matches will be held at Rio’s famous Maracana Stadium.
