++ Al Jazeera Sport will be the exclusive new home of the Barclays Premier League, for seasons 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 in the Middle East North Africa Market

DOHA, 15th July 2013 – Al Jazeera Sport, the global sports broadcaster, today announced that it has concluded an agreement with leading international sports rights agency MP & Silva to acquire the exclusive media rights to the Barclays Premier League in the Middle East and North Africa through a 3-year agreement that begins next month with the 2013-14 season.

Al Jazeera Sport becomes the exclusive media rights holder to all 380 Barclays Premier League matches across all media platforms and devices in the MENA region that comprises 23 countries*.

Commenting on the new agreement, Mr. Nasser Al Khelaifi, Chairman said “We are extremely excited by the addition of the Barclays Premier League for the next three year cycle, the value that this can add to our customer proposition and extending further our portfolio of top European football.”

Premier League Chief Executive, Mr. Richard Scudamore said, “We are extremely pleased to welcome Al Jazeera Sport as a new partner in Middle East North Africa. We look forward to working with them and are confident they will broadcast the Barclays Premier League in a comprehensive and innovative manner to our fans in the region.”

For the new season Al Jazeera Sport will launch three new HD channels and show every moment of the Barclays Premier League action. With 19 Live Sports and Sports News channels in the region, Al Jazeera Sport is in an unrivaled position to bring its subscribers complete coverage of the Barclays Premier League including dedicated studios for both Arabic and English coverage and a full range of preview, review and highlights programmes. Breaking news and stories from the Barclays Premier League will feature on Al Jazeera Sport News, the 24/7 sports news channel that is the home sports news in the region.

Al Jazeera Sport has lined up some of the most experienced and well-loved sports presenters in the industry to front their productions in the region. Ayman Jada and Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari will present the Arabic coverage of the Barclays Premier League while the English studios will feature Richard Keys and Andy Gray, who have been at the heart of the Barclays Premier League since coverage began.
