The European Club Association (ECA) will host their General Assembly (1-2 March) in Manchester.
This means it will coincide with the inaugural Soccerex European Forum (2-3 March, Manchester). The two events will take place in adjoining venues, at the Radisson Edwardian and Manchester Central respectively.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Chairman of ECA, commented that they are “excited to offer to all our Member Clubs the possibility to work together with the global leader for the business of football. There are several natural synergies between the ECA and Soccerex. We’re delighted to be able to take this opportunity to make our voice heard on a platform like the Soccerex European Forum.”
All ECA members have been invited to attend the Soccerex European Forum and some senior members will take part in the event’s conference programme. After the General Assembly, the European Club Association will host an exclusive press conference to inform the media and Soccerex delegates about the outcome of their discussions.
ECA is the sole independent body representing European football clubs at European level. They represent 144 clubs, drawn from every national association within UEFA, and is steered by a 15 member-strong Executive Board.
Andrew Stokes, chief executive of Marketing Manchester, the agency charged with promoting the city on a national and international stage, said: “Manchester’s reputation as a centre of footballing excellence, coupled with our impressive conference infrastructure, makes us an ideal location for the European Club Association (ECA) General Assembly.
“The fact that the ECA’s visit will coincide with Manchester’s hosting of the first Soccerex European Forum is an added benefit – bringing together two of the most prestigious sports-related events to take place in the city during 2010.”
The Soccerex European Forum is a networking-focused event designed to bring the leading decision makers in the European & Global football industry together for 2 days of intensive networking & business.
