The Italian Lega Nazionale Professionisti (LNP), the governing body of the Italian professional football leagues, has achieved impressive early success with two domestic media rights packages for Serie A, assisted and advised by the international sports marketing company Infront Sports & Media.

LNP has today approved the bids of Sky Italia and R.T.I. S.p.A. (a Mediaset Group company), submitted on 27 July, for the Platinum Live and the Gold Live packages respectively.

In total, six media rights packages were put out to tender on 10 July for exclusive domestic rights for Serie A for the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons. The remaining packages will be assigned in the upcoming weeks.

Infront is the exclusive advisor to the LNP in the exploitation of the national and international media rights for all its properties, starting from the 2010/11 season, for six seasons.

Marco Bogarelli, Member of the Board of Directors of Infront and President of Infront Italy, said: “We are very satisfied that the two packages for the first two seasons have been assigned to Sky and R.T.I., with an offer exceeding the required total minimum license fee.” He added: “For Infront, this result is a good start and we are confident we will more than achieve our goal through the assignment of the remaining packages to the other interested media companies. We had several meetings with Lega Calcio to fine tune the structure of the packages. We intend to contribute in a significant way to the television and new media coverage of this superb football product, by creating new solutions and innovative screen shots to increase viewers’ interest.”

Rights description: 
    * Live and delayed transmission of all matches via satellite platform
    * Retransmission via IPTV including rights for sales to commercial closed circuits (e.g. hotels, bars)
    * Redistribution to commercial users (e.g. hotels, bars)
    * Exclusive ancillary rights (interviews, production integration, etc.)

 Gold Live – R.T.I. (Mediaset)
Platform: Digital terrestrial (Pay)
Rights description:
    * Live and delayed transmission of the matches of 12 teams (first pick of 10, third pick of 2 by the licensee )
    * Retransmission via IPTV
    * Redistribution to commercial users (e.g. hotels, bars)
