Arsenal Inks Indonesian Cell Operator

Indonesia’s leading mobile phone operator is latest partner of Arsenal FC.

Wednesday’s deal makes Telkomsel the official mobile network of the Gunners within Indonesia.

Neither the length nor the financial terms of the agreement are so far available.

As part of the sponsorship, Telkomsel's 125 million customers will enjoy early access to purchase tickets for Arsenal’s match against the Indonesian national team on July 14 at the Gelora Bung Karno stadium.

"We have more Facebook fans in Indonesia than in any other country,” said Arsenal's head of global partnerships Vinai Venkatesham.

“By taking our first team to play a match in Indonesia, and working with one of the country’s biggest brands, we look forward to engaging with our passionate fans in the run up to, during and after this summer’s visit.”

Marcella Dewi, head of loyalty and lifestyle group Telkomsel, added: "We strongly believe this partnership allows us to provide unique football experiences for our football passionate customers across Indonesia.”

Aussie Bank Sponsors A-League Award

ME Bank is a newest partner of the Hyundai A-League, the Football Federation of Australia confirms.

As part of the agreement, the Aussie will sponsor the FFA’s new Fairer Play Award for “significant gestures of fairer play” on as well as off the field.

“While so often moments of Fairer Play go unnoticed I am very happy to announce the introduction of an award that symbolizes one of the best attributes in sport – fair play,” FFA CEO David Gallop said in a statement.

“With the backing of a fantastic new partner in ME Bank this award will surely become an important feature of our competitive calendar.”

Also this week, A-League side Adelaide United announced Clean Energy Enterprises as its new main sponsor in a club-record $1 million deal.

Blue Square Ends Football Conference Sponsorship

The Football Conference is without a headline sponsor for its 2013-2014 season after Betfair ended Blue Square’s six-year partnership with the league following its takeover of the online bookmaker.

"Blue Square Bet has been a tremendous partner for six long seasons and we knew that they were likely to end their contract with us at the end of this current one,” was quoted Wednesday by Marketing Magazine.

"They have honored each and every clause of the agreement and we would like to believe that we have responded likewise."
