March 15, 2012
Soccerex are delighted to confirm that Patrick Vieira will be part of the conference agenda at this year’s Soccerex European Forum, 28-29 March, Manchester.
Patrick will be attending the event as Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Vieira will speak about the ‘Professional Football Against Hunger’ campaign.
This is a joint initiative between FAO, the European Union and the Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL). He will participate in the launch of this year’s European Match Day Against Hunger ‘which will involve over 300 clubs in 20 leagues across 16 countries across Europe on the weekend of 30st March / 1st April. The campaign aims to sound the alarm on the food crisis in the Sahel region of Africa, where millions of people are facing hunger, and support efforts made by the European Union and FAO to help the people affected feed themselves again.
Following his speech Vieira will be joining a panel featuring Stuart Pearce, David Sheepshanks and Gerard Houllier to look at player and coach development.
He will be able to speak with great authority having witnessed firsthand the player development initiatives at leading clubs like Arsenal, Juventus and Inter Milan and now, in his role as Football Development Executive he is part of Manchester City’s youth development plans which include the ambitious new Etithad complex to be built at Eastlands. The panel will be moderated by Mark Warburton, Director of Cyad Sports Management, the founders of the NextGen series.
Over 1500 delegates are expected to attend this year’s Soccerex European Forum where they will benefit from exclusive business opportunities via a packed exhibition and a number of formal and informal networking events.
There will also be a packed conference programme addressing some the key issues affecting the industry including sessions on UEFA’s move to centralise media rights, player and coach development, the art of management – a master-class with Rafael Benitez, betting, the tricky business of managing England with Terry Venables, financial management of clubs in the wake of financial fair play, the relationship between football and the media, and the Soccerex Supplement, a session with some of football’s biggest names.
